DELEGATES from 10 Macao-based English and Portuguese media outlets visited Shenzhen’s landmarks and technology companies yesterday, concluding their four-day tour of mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), which began Sunday.

On May 9, Director General Cao Saixian of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office met with Luigi Gambardella, President of ChinaEU, accompanied by Jiao Yu, Director of ChinaEU, and Claudio Valdetara, Marketing Director of Rhea Vendors Group. The two sides exchanged ideas about new retail, digital transformation, scientific and technological innovation, etc. Representative from Shenzhen Commerce Bureau and Zhao Huizhou, the founder of Eachway Fashion Group, also attended the meeting.

From April 10 to 14, under the framework of World InnovativeCities Cooperation Organization (hereinafter referred to as“WICCO”), representatives of innovation institutions and enterprises that intend to participate visited Qingdao and Nanjing to hold innovation cooperation exchange meetings and theme promotion, and visited local innovation entities.

On the afternoon of March 6, 2023, World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization (hereinafter referred to as "WICCO"), which is being promoted by Shenzhen, other innovation cities and institutions across the globe, held a new event this year -- Innovation Policy And Practice Conference at Wu Zhou Guest House Shenzhen.

SHENZHEN is now seeking further cooperation with the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in terms of sci-tech innovation and international exchange under the framework of the World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization (WICCO), a nongovernmental and nonprofit organization which promotes innovation cooperation across the world.

FROM Nov. 23 to 25, I visited Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) with a delegation from Shenzhen and have updated my understanding towards this city through attending eight different events. Macao is a hot land for innovation, boasting the BEYOND International Technology Innovation Expo —— which is curated with the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the United States as its blueprint, a total four State key laboratories and many innovator-minded government officials. It is striving to restructure its economy in a diversified way, to build itself as a pilot testing ground for new products and solutions of cutting-edge technologies and to become a gateway to the global technology ecosystem for science and innovation enterprises from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In order to better promote innovation cooperation among cities, explore the integration of elements of innovation, and share effective ways and paths to improve urban governance and competitiveness, on November 18, 2021, the World Innovative Cities Forum was held in Shenzhen.

On April 21, 2021, the Shenzhen International Innovation Cooperation and Exchange Conference hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government was held at the Langham Hotel. Representatives of 60 cities and innovation institutions at home and abroad attended the event through online or offline to discuss and jointly build the World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization (WICCO) to enhance consensus for the in-depth promotion of international innovation cooperation.

On the afternoon of March 18, 2021, Gu Ting, full-time vice president of Shenzhen Friendship Association with Foreign Countries, attended the Shenzhen-Macao Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Exchange Conference in Macao. He presented to the representatives of more than 40 institutions including Macao Trade Promotion Institutions, Chambers of Commerce, and enterprises participating in the meeting. He introduced the World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization and invited all types of innovation entities in Macao to actively join, promote the diversified development of Macao, and work together to make the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area an international technological innovation center with global influence.

On the morning of May 7, 2021, Cao Saixian, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal Committee, led a team to Haikou City, Hainan Province to participate in the first China International Consumer Products Expo. Gu Ting, full-time vice chairman of Shenzhen Friendship Association with Foreign Countries, gave a special topic at the Shenzhen Trading Group International Brand Resource Matchmaking Conference Introduce the World Innovative Cities Cooperation Organization. The purpose of this event is to take advantage of the large-scale exhibition event of the Consumer Fair and the role of the docking platform to increase the visibility of WICCO, attract high-quality target members to join, and establish strong links with the target audience.
