At the sub-forum of Guangdong Province's High-quality Development Conference "Manufacturing is the Master" held on the afternoon of January 28, Ji Shishan, Dean of the Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen said that as the first new scientific research institution to come to Shenzhen, Guangdong, the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen has always fulfilled the responsibility of Tsinghua University to serve local economic and social development, and has made beneficial exploration and attempts in promoting regional scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development.

Ji Shishan introduced that since the institute took root in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province in 1996, it has pioneered an innovative institutional mechanism. It is a scientific and technological innovation incubation system with characteristic institutional innovation and deep integration of industry, university and research, efficient integration of required innovation elements, so that the innovation chain, industrial chain and capital chain three chains integration and chemical reaction, exploring a suitable system and mechanism for high-quality scientific and technological innovation.

Ji Shishan pointed out that the "1+1" model of "R & D center + industrialization company" and the "1+1" model of "one team and two platforms" have also opened up the direct path of scientific and technological achievements from technology research and development, small pilot trials to industrialization, and explored a feasible model to improve the efficiency of the transformation of results and accelerate the self-reliance of science and technology.

Ji Shishan believes that the establishment of joint research institutes with central and state-owned enterprises allows advanced technology and innovation teams at home and abroad to directly link to the large-scale traditional industrial technology upgrading and innovation iteration, and explores an effective path for the curved overtaking and high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

It is reported that the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen has established and improved the science and technology innovation incubation system with the deep integration of industry, university and research, and built six functional modules such as proof of concept, pilot engineering, talent support, science and technology finance, incubation services, and international cooperation, covering important nodes on the ecological chain of science and technology innovation, and continue to introduce high-quality scientific research teams at home and abroad to develop in Guangdong.

At present, the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen has carried out substantive scientific and technological innovation cooperation with 11 leading state-owned enterprises in the industry, including China Resources Group, CNOOC, PetroChina, CGN, FAW Group, China Investment Group, Shenzhen Energy Group, etc., and has landed 18 projects, and the transformation of project results has achieved remarkable results, solved the difficulties of enterprise transformation, and accelerated the industrialization efficiency. The innovation platform jointly built by the Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen and the Central State-owned Enterprises has also become an important incubation base for innovative industries to implement the national strategy of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
