On 4 August, the graduation ceremony of CUHK Training Program For Young Mathematic Talents was successfully completed at Shenzhen Research Institute, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. During the 12-day training, 29 young people experienced university mathematics courses, participated in STEM workshops, visited the campus of CUHK, conducted fun report competition, successfully completed all the projects, and 9 of them obtained excellent results in the examination.
Dr Lin Huangquan, Executive Director of the Institute and Director of CUHK Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Office, attended and delivered a speech. He first thanked the lecturers Dr Pan Li and Dr Liao Zhenlong, as well as all the teaching assistants and administrative staff for their dedication. He said the project was funded by the TUYF Charitable Trust and strongly supported by the Department of Mathematics of CUHK. The training course focuses on inspiring young people to observe, think and analyze mathematical scenes in life, improving their ability to study problems, and guiding and cultivating their interest in mathematics. The training program not only trained the students' mathematical ability, but also improved the students' ability of expression, summary analysis and teamwork through various forms such as group discussion, practice and sharing.
At the graduation ceremony, Dr. Lin Huangquan, Dr. Pan Li and Dr. Liao Zhenlong presented certificates to the students and took a group photo.
