Recently, the 2023 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Summer School and Summit Forum was held at Southern University of Science and Technology. The event was hosted by IEEE CIS Shenzhen Branch and organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SUSTech Research Institute of Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (RITAS). 16 IEEE fellows from home and abroad, 7 editors-in-chief of IEEE top journals, and more than 400 academic elites and professionals in the field of intelligent computing and industry applications from more than 100 well-known universities at home and abroad participated in the event to discuss the latest research, technological innovation and application cases in the field of computational intelligence. It aims to build a platform for exchange and interaction of knowledge, achievements and talents, encourage young scholars to be brave in scientific and technological innovation, and inject more new momentum into the field of computational intelligence.

At the opening ceremony, Yao Xin, IEEE Fellow and director of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology, expressed the hope that by holding meaningful activities such as the summer school, researchers can be brought together more broadly, provide opportunities for international learning and exchange, promote training of talents in the field of computational intelligence and empower the development and innovation integration of the field in China.

During the forum, a total of 16 Experts in computational intelligence academic were invited and shared their latest results and scientific research experiences, bringing inspiration and thinking to the participants.

In addition to expert lectures, there are also various activities such as round-table forums, practical courses, and volunteer certificate issuance. Among them, the round-table forums held heated discussions with the themes of "How to Do Impactful Research" and "How to Publish with Prestigious IEEE Journals" respectively.

It is reported that this event is the largest academic feast of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in mainland China in recent years. It has gathered many top experts in the industry and established a good channel for international exchanges between domestic and foreign computational intelligence peers. The holding of the event plays an important role in enabling high-quality development in the field of computational intelligence research and diversified international exchanges and cooperation.
