On July 7, 2025, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to jointly establish the "HKUST BYD Tailored Intelligence Joint Laboratory". This collaboration will focus on cutting-edge research in robotics technology and intelligent manufacturing, committed to promoting technological innovation and industrial applications, injecting new impetus into global scientific and technological progress and industrial upgrading.
The joint laboratory is located on the campus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and BYD will invest tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars in the next few years to support the operation of the laboratory, with a focus on tackling the field of embodied intelligence. Both parties will focus on exploring data-driven embodied intelligence research, developing new operational data collection solutions suitable for simulated and real environments, and reducing data acquisition costs. The obtained data will be used to train a embodied intelligent large model, enabling robots to autonomously complete various tasks in home or factory environments. In addition, both parties will also engage in deep cooperation in the field of intelligent assisted driving to enhance the safety and reliability of intelligent assisted driving technology.
