
1、 City Overview
Berlin is the capital and largest city of Germany, one of the sixteen federal states and one of only three major metropolitan states along with Hamburg and Bremen. It is also the political, economic, transportation, and cultural center of Germany. Its area is 891.85 square kilometers and its population is approximately 3.56 million (as of 2020).
Berlin is also a city of world culture, politics, media, and science. Its economy is based on high-tech companies and service industries, covering various creative industries, startups, research institutions, and media companies. Berlin, which boasts world-renowned universities such as Humboldt University and Berlin Institute of Technology, has also attracted young people with a modern spirit from around the world to come here.
2、 Economic and industrial development
Industry: Berlin is a major industrial zone in Germany, with the most developed industries such as motors, electronics, and instruments, followed by sectors such as machinery, metallurgy, and chemical engineering. Its industries are mostly distributed in the outskirts of the city, such as the districts of Spandau, Charlottenburg, Kreutzberg, Tempelhof, Kopenik, and Trepto, which account for a high proportion of the city's GDP and are an important economic source for Berlin.
Agriculture: Agricultural land accounts for a considerable proportion of Berlin's area, providing it with vegetables, fruits, flowers, etc. It is a distribution center for wheat, oats, and other agricultural products produced in nearby areas, especially in the eastern hinterland.

The tertiary industry: Berlin's service and communication industries are also quite developed. Although they are not the main economic entities, they account for a considerable proportion of Berlin's economic output. Many companies have business and service centers in Berlin, such as large multinational corporations like Sony and Bombardier Transportation. Famous Exhibition: Berlin is an important center for the film industry in Europe and Germany. Every February, the Berlin International Film Festival will be held as scheduled in Berlin. The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the most influential and top international film festivals in the world today, and also one of the international A-class film festivals. Along with Cannes Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival, it is known as one of the world's three major international film festivals, with the highest award being the Golden Bear Award.

3、 Highlights of Interactions with Shenzhen
In November 2007, Harold Wolf, then Deputy Mayor of Berlin, led a delegation to visit Shenzhen.
From May 14th to 17th, 2008, Harold Wolf, the then Deputy Mayor of Berlin, led a delegation to visit Shenzhen and participated in the Cultural Expo, jointly signing the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Exchange and Cooperation between Shenzhen and Berlin with the then Mayor of Shenzhen.
From June 2nd to 4th, 2010, Harold Wolf, then Deputy Mayor of Berlin, led a government and business delegation to visit Shenzhen and held an economic and trade exchange meeting in our city.
In September 2017, a delegation from Shenzhen visited Berlin to attend the China (Shenzhen) - Germany (Berlin) Economic and Trade Exchange Conference and paid a visit to the organizing committee of the Berlin International Consumer Electronics Show.
