1、City Overview
The Hague is located on the southwest coast of the Netherlands and is the third largest city in the country. It is also the capital of the economically developed province of South Holland, with an area of 98 square kilometers and a population of approximately 560,000. Since the 13th century, The Hague has been the political center and national government of the Netherlands, with many government agencies, embassies, and international organizations located here. The Hague is regarded as the 'City of Fairness and Justice', with a fair and flexible investment environment. The famous building, the 'Peace Palace', is located on the outskirts of The Hague. The Peace Palace was built between 1907 and 1913, funded and donated by governments of various countries, symbolizing the idea of working together to create peace. It is now the location of the United Nations International Court of Justice.  
The Hague is also known as the "land of international law and arbitration". The main judicial institutions of the United Nations, including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the European Police Organization, and approximately 200 other international government agencies, are all located in the city.  

2、Economic and industrial development
Service industry: The economy of The Hague is service-oriented, with 26% of jobs provided by the Dutch government or international organizations. The distribution of workplaces in the city is mainly composed of a large number of civil servants and diplomats working in the city.  
Business: The Hague is also the cradle of many enterprises, with several large international companies headquartered in The Hague, such as Siemens, Saudi Aramco, Shell, and others. As of 2022, more than 140 Chinese companies have invested and started businesses in The Hague, including Huawei, ZTE, Beijing Tongrentang, Xiaomi Technology, and others.  
Tourism industry: Tourism is also an important industry in The Hague city. The city is the second largest tourist destination in the Netherlands after Amsterdam, with an average annual spending of 2 billion euros by tourists. Currently, one tenth of the local residents make a living through tourism.

3、Highlights of Interactions with Shenzhen
In May 2013, Henk Kul, then Deputy Mayor of The Hague, and a delegation of five people visited Shenzhen. During the visit, the Hague Tourism Bureau signed a memorandum of friendly exchange and cooperation with the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism.  
In November 2013, Henk Kul, then Deputy Mayor of The Hague, and a delegation of six people visited Shenzhen. Gao Guohui, then Deputy Secretary General of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, met with the delegation.   
In March 2014, Henk Kul, then Deputy Mayor of The Hague, and a delegation of seven people visited Shenzhen. Wu Yihuan, then Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, met with the delegation.   
In May 2014, Ms. Marilyn Trudeau, Director of the West Holland Foreign Investment Agency in The Hague, visited Shenzhen and had discussions with the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office.  
In November 2014, the then Deputy Mayor of The Hague, Carsten Klein, and his delegation attended the 16th Shenzhen High Tech Fair and signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two cities with the then Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, Wu Yihuan.   
In September 2018, the Shenzhen International Image Promotion Event and "CityPlus" Platform Roadshow were held in The Hague, where the city number "CityPlus" was opened. In December 2018, De Maosi, then Executive Vice Mayor of The Hague, and a delegation of 8 people visited Shenzhen. Wang Lixin, then Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, met with the delegation. During this period, the Hague City Promotion Conference was also held, as well as the Hague's entry into the "CityPlus" platform and the launch ceremony of the twin city experience route. 
In May 2019, a delegation from Shenzhen visited The Hague. The then Mayor of The Hague, Krik, met with the delegation and the Deputy Mayor attended a welcome lunch. Students from The Hague Royal Academy of Music performed live for the delegation the song "The Hague Shenzhen Spring" specially composed by professors from The Hague Academy of Music for both regions.  
In May 2019, the Hague Municipal Government appointed Zhao Xiaoyu, the Chinese representative of the Hague Municipal Bureau of Commerce, to attend the 2019 International Friendship City Smart City Forum held in our city.  
In June 2019, the Director of the Economic Department of The Hague visited the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, where the two sides exchanged ideas on strengthening the cooperation between the Royal Dutch Academy of Music and Shenzhen Art Schools. The Municipal Foreign Affairs Office actively promoted the Innovation City Alliance cooperation platform.
