From April 10 to 14, under the framework of World Innovativen Cities Cooperation Organization (hereinafter referred to as“WICCO”), representatives of innovation institutions and enterprises that intend to participate visited Qingdao and Nanjing to hold innovation cooperation exchange meetings and theme promotion, and visited local innovation entities. Qingdao and Nanjing are the first group of Chinese cities to express their willingness to participate in the joint construction of WICCO since the launch of it. The purpose of the event is to promote the launch of WICCO, build a cooperation platform, enhance the understanding of mutual innovation resources and advantages among member cities and institutions, and promote links and exchanges among WICCO members.

Representatives from Kobe International Community Center,, BRICS Institute Of Future Networks, Shenzhen International Low Carbon Forum Development Center, Venture Cup China, Central and Eastern European Countries Economy and Culture Promotion Associations, Hong Kong Productivity Council, The Graduate School of CUHK-Shenzhen, Shenzhen Foundation For International Exchange and Cooperation, etc., and representatives ofShenzhen SEZ Construction and Development Technology Park Co., Ltd., , BGI Group, Shenzhen Energy Group, DBJ Investment Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd. , iMakerbase and other enterprises participated in the exchange visit. Cao Saixian, Director General of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Gu Ting, Vice President of the Shenzhen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, attended the relevant activities.

During the stay in Qingdao, WICCO organized the "Shenzhen-Qingdao Innovation Cooperation Exchange Meeting" in cooperation with Qingdao Foreign Affairs Office and Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. Gu Ting made a special presentation to the participating Qingdao institutions and enterprises on the background and significance, operation mechanism and existing basic conditions of the establishment and preparation ofWICCO, and issued an invitation to the local innovation entities. Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone introduced innovation policies, resources and foreign cooperation priorities. The China Branch of the BRICS Institute Of Future Networks, Greater Bay Area Innovation Think Tank and representatives of Qingdao enterprises conducted road shows and exchanges.

The delegation also visited Qingdao's departments of foreign affairs and science and technology, Hisense Research and Development Center, Ocean University of China, Haier Industrial Internet Ecological Park, China-SCO Technology Transfer Center, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao Israel International Platform, Hexagon Industrial Park and other enterprises and institutions, so as to better leverage the functions of the Innovation and Cooperation Organization platform under construction and strengthen collaboration. They also communicated to jointly carry out international innovation cooperation.

During the stay in Nanjing, WICCO(In preparation) organized an innovation cooperation exchange meeting with Nanjing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and Qinhuai District People's Government. Cao Saixian introduced the innovation environment and advantages of Shenzhen to the representatives of innovation enterprises and institutions in Nanjing, and proposed that the two places take the opportunity of co-building the WICCO, give full play to their respective advantages, jointly build an all-round and multidimensional international innovation cooperation network, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results through open innovation, and seek common innovation and development. Chen Weisheng, Deputy Director of Nanjing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, said that Nanjing will work with Shenzhen to actively promote the preparatory work of WICCO, jointly carry out related innovation activities and gather innovation resources, hoping that Nanjing's science and innovation "gene" and the science and innovation resources of WICCO will integrate and promote cooperation. Gu Ting made a special presentation onWICCO. Qinhuai District Government, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Institute of Technology Base, iMakerbase and related innovation enterprises in Nanjing made a presentation at the meeting and carried out road shows and exchanges.

The delegation also visited other institutions such as Jiangbei New District, National Health and Medical Big Data (East) Center, Nanjing Innovation Center of China Future Internet Engineering Center, and Yuedang Xinmen West Industrial Park to strengthen understanding of the local innovation ecology, and communicated with local innovation institutions and enterprise representatives on industrial development, scientific and technological innovation, talent training, joint international cooperation and other aspects.
