On 20 May, Session on Sci-Tech Innovative Development in the Greater Bay Area of 2023 Greater Bay Area Science Forum was successfully held in Shenzhen. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Bai Chunli, Chairman of Greater Bay Area Science Forum, Chairman of Alliance of International Science Organization and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qin Weizhong, Mayor of Shenzhen Municipality, Yin Hao, Committee Member and Secretary of the Secretariat of China Association for Science and Technology, Wang Xiangming, Chairman of China Resources Group attended the session and delivered a speech. Lee Ka Chiu congratulated the forum on its opening via video.

Leung Chun-ying said that the purpose of forum is to promote scientific and technological innovation cooperation among scientists, scientific organizations and all sectors of society in the GBA, and to share innovation results. He hopes that scientists will unite to bravely climb the peak of science, seek innovation and development, and strive to build the GBA into a strategic fulcrum for a new development pattern, a demonstration site for high-quality development, and a leading place for Chinese-style modernization.

Bai Chunli said that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Technology Innovation and Development Sub-Forum was held is an important part of the Greater Bay Science Forum. It will build a bridge of communication and cooperation between science and industry, promote cross-field and cross-regional scientific and technological exchanges and collaborative innovation, and stimulate the innovation vitality of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. We will work together to build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a highland of global technological innovation.

Li Jiachao said that the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park located in Hetao will become the largest innovation and technology platform in Hong Kong, and together with the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Park will form the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. Under the principle of "one country, two systems", the cooperation Zone will be "one district and two parks" located on "both sides of one river", bringing together global talents and contributing to the high-level opening up of the Greater Bay Area.

Qin Weizhong said that Shenzhen will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection of Guangdong’s important speeches and important instructions, continue to deepen cooperation in science and technology innovation between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao, promote the deep integration of the innovation chain, industry chain, capital chain, and talent chain, and join hands with Hong Kong and Macao to build the Greater Bay Area international science and technology innovation center, and strive to build a world power in science and technology and make greater contributions to promoting the Chinese-style modernization.

Yin Hao said that the China Association for Science and Technology will serve as a bridge and link for the vast number of scientific and technological workers, shoulder greater responsibilities and play a greater role in the development of scientific and technological innovation in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and make new and greater contributions to building the Bay Area into an international technological innovation center and accelerating the realization of Chinese-style modernization.

Wang Xiangming said that China Resources is willing to work with scientists from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and people from all walks of life in the Bay Area to jointly promote the great practice of "one country, two systems" at a new historical starting point, share new opportunities for the coordinated development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and embark on a new journey to pursue the dream of a world-class Bay Area.
