One of the highlights of the event will be the ecoMetals Forum, taking place in Hall 9. This forum will serve as the “green heart” of the trade fair, showcasing sustainable metallurgical technologies, processes, and applications. As part of the forum, the themed day “Green Thermoprocess Technology” on June 12th will shed light on the transition to renewable energy sources and the role of thermal processes in achieving sustainability goals.

In Hall 13, visitors can explore the Special Show “Castainability,” organized by the German Foundrymen’s Association (VDG e.V.) and the Confederation of the German Foundry Industry (BDG e.V.). This exhibition will demonstrate how casting processes can contribute to decarbonizing industrial processes and advancing climate-neutral technologies. Furthermore, the renowned NEWCAST Award on June 14th will honor the most innovative castings by international exhibitors, showcasing the strength and potential of casting as a forming process.

The METEC trade fair will host two influential congresses: ESTAD (European Steel Technology and Application Days) and EMC (European Metallurgical Conference). ESTAD will focus on the challenges of achieving climate-neutral manufacturing processes in the steel industry. Meanwhile, EMC, the most important conference for non-ferrous metallurgists in Europe, will delve into topics such as CO2-neutral energy supply and the use of hydrogen and lithium in metallurgical processes.

The THERMPROCESS events will provide a platform for experts to discuss thermal process technology, digitalization, and their role in recycling and achieving a circular economy. The THERMPROCESS Forum, along with the FOGI Special Show, will showcase innovative processes and solutions in thermal process technology.

Throughout the trade fair, visitors can identify “green pioneers” among the exhibiting companies through the ecoMetals campaign. Specially marked stands and guided tours, known as ecoMetals Trails, will lead visitors to companies committed to sustainable and energy-efficient practices. Notable participants include ABP Induction Systems, SMS Group, and Tenova, among others.

The ecoMetals Awards, premiering on June 15th, will recognize outstanding technological achievements and innovations that contribute to an efficient and environmentally friendly industry. The awards will be presented in three categories: ecoProcess, ecoEnergy, and ecoTechnology. Additionally, the ecoMetals Science Slams on June 16th will feature concise presentations on sustainability, resource savings, and energy efficiency in the foundry and metallurgy industry.

A new addition to the trade fair is the ecoMetals Studio, which will host panel discussions, interviews, and live reports to enhance the digital content available on the trade fair portals. Another important aspect of the event is Metals4you, a platform dedicated to promoting young talent and connecting them with enterprises in the metallurgy and foundry industries.

In recognition of the remarkable women in the “Bright World of Metals,” the European Foundry Women’s Award, presented on June 15th, will honor a female leader who has made significant contributions to the metal-casting industry.

In an era of increasing emphasis on sustainability and innovation, the “Bright World of Metals 2023” trade fair in Düsseldorf stands out as a shining beacon of progress. With its diverse exhibitions, ecoMetals Forum, influential congresses, and recognition of industry pioneers, the event provides a vibrant platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in the metallurgical industry. As attendees explore the trade fair’s halls, they will witness the transformative power of collaboration, paving the way for a brighter, greener future in metal production and processing.
