Mobile World Congress 2023 opened on February 27 at the Barcelona Convention Center in Spain. During the four-day conference, more than 2,000 exhibitors from more than 200 countries and regions around the world will focus on new trends, new products and new technologies in the mobile communication industry and share their insights on hot issues affecting the industry.

The theme of Mobile World Congress 2023 is "Time waits for no one", among which 5G acceleration, open networks, fintech and digitalization are the focus of this conference. 2023 Mobile World Congress organizers, Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) president Mats Granryd said that： “We are on the road to digital, and to truly achieve this goal, the need for innovation from various fields.”

Mobile World Congress is one of the major events in the mobile communication industry and is also known as the "weather vane" of this industry. However, in the past few years, the event was deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 conference and the postponement of the 2021 conference. For the 2021 conference, most of the exhibitions and discussions  were held online. Although Mobile World Congress was resumed offline in 2022, the scale was still not as big as before the epidemic. Mobile World Congress 2019 attracted more than 109,000 people.

In addition, the organizers also look forward to promoting the recovery of the industry and alleviating the impact of the epidemic on the economy. Mats Granryd stressed that in addition to focusing on the development of the technology field and exploring the future vision of industry leaders, the conference also pays attention to the economic value created by the conference. Organizers expect more than 80,000 attendees this year, bringing in 350 million euros in economic benefits.
