Poznan, one of the oldest and largest cities in Poland, is a historic capital of the Greater Poland region, where the Polish state was born a thousand years ago. Today, Poznan is a wealthy and vibrant city, an important centre of economy, culture, sport, higher education and science, as well as an important trading and meeting industry hub. The city acts as a base urban node of the TEN-T Trans-European Transport Network.

 

Poznan is at the heart of a metropolitan area consisting of one million residents with many young people studying and working in the city. High human capital potential, high qualifications and foreign language skills among residents, high quality of life, a developed network of national and international transportation links, availability of top-of-the-line modern office space allow the development of innovation and creative industries, including a strong start-up environment and the IT and gaming industries.

Poznan, as the administrative centre of the Greater Poland region, is the seat of the Greater Poland Voivode and the Marshal of the Greater Poland region, as well the Association of Polish Cities. It is active in the international arena as a member of international organizations and platforms of cooperation associating cities and regions, and as a partner of foreign twin-cities.

 

The city’s prosperity and a very high potential for economic growth are confirmed by high ratings given by the largest international rating agencies. Poznan holds an A- rating - the highest attainable by local government in the country, with a stable forecast awarded by the Fitch Ratings agency. Moody's Investors Service assesses Poznan's creditworthiness at the same level (A3 with a stable forecast).
