Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province and an important high-tech industry base, commercial and logistics center, and comprehensive transportation hub in China's western region. As of the end of 2021, its permanent population is 21.192 million.

Located in southwestern China, Chengdu has been known as the "Land of Abundance" since ancient times. It is the headquarters of the Western Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army and an important base for the electronic information industry. There are 30 national-level research institutions, 67 national-level R&D platforms, and 65 universities in the city. In 2019, 301 Fortune Global 500 companies had established their presence in Chengdu. As of the end of 2021, Chengdu had 130 national-level innovation platforms and 54 national enterprise technology centers. Throughout the year, 121 key core technology research and development projects were implemented, and 22 scientific and technological achievements won national science and technology awards.
