Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, （AGIS） was established in 2014 as a new research institute in Shenzhen integrating the research strength of agricultural genomics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and AGIS. Since its establishment, the institute has been implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions on "four orientations" and "two first-class" and has built a research team of nearly 600 high-level talents including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and national distinguished young scholars. The institute has established a discipline system centered on genomics technology and radiating to agriculture, food, and ecology. It has also been approved as an innovative carrier for the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Lingnan Modern Agriculture Science and Technology (Shenzhen) and the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Gene Data Analysis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The institute has published over 300 SCI papers in top journals such as Science, Nature, and Cell, occupying the forefront of agricultural genomics research and other fields in the world. Several achievements have been selected as "Top Ten Landmarks of Agricultural Science and Technology in the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan," "Top Ten Advances in Chinese Life Sciences," and "Top Ten Advances in Chinese Agricultural Science."
